Is Sam's Club Open On Thanksgiving In 2026? Holiday Hours And Schedule Guide

Planning a holiday grocery restock or preparing for a big family gathering requires precise timing, especially when navigating retail holiday schedules. For shoppers wondering if Sam's Club is open on Thanksgiving in 2026, the short answer is no. Sam's Club locations across the United States remain strictly closed on Thanksgiving Day, allowing their hourly associates and management teams to observe the holiday with their families.

Understanding wholesale club holiday hours, operational protocols, and alternative shopping strategies ensures your holiday preparation runs smoothly without unnecessary trips to locked doors.

Sam's Club 2026 Thanksgiving Day Closure Policy

The annual closure on Thanksgiving Day is a long-standing corporate policy for Sam's Club, mirroring the strategy of its parent company, Walmart, and many other major retail warehouse networks. This closure ensures that operational staff receive a guaranteed day of rest during one of the busiest retail weeks of the calendar year.

• Date of Closure: Thursday, November 26, 2026.
• Scope of Closure: All physical warehouse locations, club cafes, fuel stations, pharmacy departments, optical centers, and tire and battery centers will be completely closed.
• Online Operations: SamsClub.com and the official mobile application remain accessible for browsing and digital orders, but fulfillment, curbside pickup, and home delivery services are suspended for the holiday. Processing and shipping resume the following day.

Black Friday and Thanksgiving Week Operating Schedule

While Thanksgiving Day brings a complete halt to physical warehouse operations, the days immediately surrounding the holiday feature adjusted schedules designed to accommodate high consumer traffic. Planning your shopping trips requires keeping track of these operational windows.

Alternative Shopping Options and Preparation Strategies

Because wholesale clubs are closed on Thanksgiving Day, last-minute ingredient runs require alternative strategies. Proactive planning during the days leading up to the holiday eliminates the stress of missing essential items like roasting pans, heavy cream, or butter.

Stocking Up Before Wednesday Night

Wednesday before Thanksgiving represents one of the highest-volume retail days of the year. To secure bulk items, fresh produce, and baked goods without facing depleted inventory shelves, complete your major Sam's Club runs by Tuesday evening or early Wednesday morning.

Utilizing Curbside Pickup and Scan & Go

To minimize time spent navigating crowded warehouse aisles during Thanksgiving week, leverage digital tools provided by Sam's Club:

• Scan & Go: Use the mobile application to scan items as you place them in your cart, paying digitally to bypass traditional checkout registers entirely.
• Curbside Pickup: Reserve pickup slots early in the week. Note that pickup windows fill up days in advance, so locking in a slot by the weekend prior is crucial.

Emergency Backup Retailers

If you realize you are missing a critical ingredient on Thanksgiving Day itself, wholesale clubs will not be an option. Instead, check local listings for convenience stores, select national pharmacy chains (such as Walgreens or CVS, which often maintain limited holiday pharmacy or convenience hours), or regional grocery stores that choose to maintain modified morning hours on the holiday.

Membership Tiers and Holiday Shopping Perks

Maximizing your holiday savings and operational efficiency at Sam's Club involves understanding how different membership tiers interact with warehouse services during the peak holiday season.

Membership Advantages: Upgrading to a Sam's Club Plus membership grants early shopping privileges starting at 8:00 AM Monday through Saturday, allowing members to secure high-demand holiday goods and fresh items before the general public arrives at 10:00 AM. Plus members also earn valuable cash back rewards on qualifying in-club and online purchases throughout the heavy holiday spending quarter.
